Advanced framing offers an economical solution to our ever more restrictive energy codes through a system of construction framing techniques designed to optimize material usage and increase energy efficiency. Advanced framing options provide superior energy-efficiency while maintaining strength, durability, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
Common advanced framing techniques will be shared along with experiences from our panelists converting from traditional to advanced framing.

+ Karyn Beebe, P.E., LEED AP, APA-The Engineered Wood Association
Karyn Beebe, PE, LEED AP is an Engineered Wood Specialist for APA-The Engineered Wood Association. Her duties include consulting with designers on the efficient specification of engineered wood products in construction. A licensed Professional Engineer in the state of California, Beebe graduated from Purdue University with a BS in Civil Engineering. She is an active member of the Structural Engineers Association and the U.S. Green Building Council, and serves as President for the San Diego Area Chapter of the ICC. Prior to joining APA, Beebe worked as a structural engineer and structural plan reviewer for the San Diego building department.
+ Dr. Mark Di Cecco, AIA LEED AP, President, Di Cecco Architecture, Inc.
Dr. Mark Di Cecco, AIA LEED AP, is an architect and Planning Commissioner for the City of Moorpark. His educational experience includes University of Hawaii, Cal Poly Pomona, University of Copenhagen and Harvard. His 28 year-old architecture and planning firm has projects from playhouses to master planned communities, focusing on development of sustainable, affordable, cost efficient, community-based suburban housing.
+ Abe Blunda, PE, LEED AP, Principal, VCA
With 20 years of experience, Mr. Blunda leads the Mixed-Use Division for VCA Structural and specializes in residential Projects of Type V / III construction over Type I and free-standing parking structures. He maintains an intimate knowledge of BIM software such as REVIT, RAM Concept, RAM Structural System, ETABS SAFE, ADAPT and RISA.

The multi family division has Panelized over 7,000 units comprised of 5 story Type III and 4 story type 5 construction since 2009, establishing the company as the one of most experienced framer using wall panel systems in Southern California.
