+ Steve Ruffner, Regional President, KB Home, LLP
Steve Ruffner is the regional general manager for KB Home Southern California, the largest geographic division in both the state and the company. In his role, Ruffner is responsible for overseeing all of the division’s operations, including land acquisition, construction, purchasing, customer service, sales, marketing, and finance across five counties: San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange, San Diego and Los Angeles. With a team of dedicated employees and a seasoned senior management, the division’s focus is to serve first-time, move-up and urban buyers by offering affordable, energy-efficient Built to Order™ new homes.
Recently, Ruffner’s leadership has driven the division’s increased activity in coastal and infill areas of Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego. In addition to these accomplishments, Ruffner has also been a champion for implementing earth-friendly building practices. The Southern California division was KB Home’s first to include solar power systems as a standard feature in all new homes, and today the largest percentage of solar-powered KB homes are located within Ruffner’s served markets.
All new KB homes built in Southern California comply with the EPA’S ENERGY STAR standards and include WaterSense labeled faucets and fixtures. The division continues to embrace new green building techniques, opening LEED platinum certified communities, net-zero energy homes, and experimenting with at-home water-recycling technology at the Company first ‘Double ZeroHouse’ in 2014.
Since joining KB Home in 1987, Ruffner has held senior management positions across a variety of departments, including operations, land acquisition, purchasing and customer service. He spent the first 15 years of his career focused on the construction side of the business and has extensive experience in all facets of construction and land development. He started his career in real estate while attending the University of Arizona as an apartment property manager in Tucson, Arizona. Before joining KB Home in 1987, he was a customer service manager and superintendent for Pulte Homes in Tucson. Ruffner currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Building Industry Association of Southern California.

Eric Rollins is a partner in the Newmeyer & Dillion, LLP Newport Beach office. His practice focuses on the litigation and arbitration of a broad range of business, real estate, construction, insurance, and land use disputes.
Specifically, Eric represents numerous publicly-traded real estate developers in all aspects of construction matters. Within the construction arena, he regularly handles complex construction matters and insurance coverage issues arising out of construction claims for both residential and commercial builders. He recently sat first chair in a trial involving novel contractual indemnification issues against multiple defendants and obtained a successful verdict in his client’s favor. In addition, Eric has extensive knowledge regarding California’s Right to Repair Act. Outside of the courtroom, he has been seen as a guest speaker with the Building Industry Association’s Customer Service Builders Council and published with various trade-related organizations, including the Orange County Business Journal.

As a member of the Risk Management and Insurance Team at Cox Castle & Nicholson, John resolves insurance coverage, real estate, and construction litigation disputes. He represents owners, developers, contractors, and investors in both litigation and transactional matters involving complex and diverse exposures.
John represents real estate and construction clients in a wide range of insurance coverage disputes and litigation with insurers under commercial general liability, property, builders' risk, errors and omissions policies, and directors and officers policies. Policyholders routinely look to John for counsel in coverage disputes involving construction liabilities, class actions, toxic torts, property and business interruption losses, errors and omissions claims, products liability, warranty claims, and self-insured retention disputes, among others.
+ Steve Knott, Esq, Nossaman, LLP
Steven Knott has served as lead counsel in over forty jury and bench trials on cases spanning a wide range of issues including fraud, breach of contract, change order disputes, unfair competition, groundwater contamination, computer networks, insurance, petroleum franchises, and asbestos bodily injury defense as national counsel.
Mr. Knott has argued before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and California Courts of Appeal and has briefed a case before the United States Supreme Court to defeat certiorari. Among his clients are PepsiAmericas, Crane Co., Sunoco, Lockheed Martin, NRG Energy, Textron Inc., Precision Castparts Corp., and Philips Electronics.
Before pursuing a career in law, Mr. Knott served as a field artillery cannon battery officer in the United States Marine Corps, First Marine Amphibious Brigade and as a non-lawyer prosecutor. He prosecuted eighty-three contested misconduct administrative hearings and twelve courts martial.
He currently works at Nossaman and has been featured in Los Angeles Magazine as one of Southern California’s “Super Lawyers” and is rated “AV” by Martindale Hubbell.
